COVID-19 has brought numerous employment and workplace-related issues to the forefront that franchise systems need to take into account, especially when it comes to the franchisor-franchisee relationship and providing the correct guidance to franchisees in the system. These issues are wide ranging and include health and safety matters, joint-employer risk, human rights issues, issues with leaves of absence and accommodation requests, layoffs and recalls, and work refusals. This session will examine these issues and the precautions that should be taken so franchisors and franchisees can work together to navigate their impact on the franchise system.
