Kim Kobayashi is the General Counsel and Director, Legal Services of A&W Food Services of Canada Inc., a franchisor with over 995 quick service restaurants in Canada. Kim is responsible for providing legal and strategic advice and support to senior management and staff relating to legal and risk management matters. This includes franchising, commercial leasing, intellectual property, marketing, corporate, commercial, privacy and litigation matters as well as corporate strategic initiatives. Kim works with an incredible six member Legal Services team in providing legal services and support across Canada.
Prior to joining A&W Food Services 12 years ago, Kim was General Counsel, Manager of Federal Treaty Negotiations and Specific Claims Legal Services in the Department of Justice, a Senior Counsel and Legal Counsel in various roles within the Department of Justice, a tax manager with Price Waterhouse and, a lawyer in private practice.
Kim grew up in BC and enjoys family time, travel, playing hockey, hiking, mountain biking, running and golfing
