Emerging from the Pandemic: Renewals, Terminations, and Franchise System Transformations
Date & Time
Thursday, September 23, 2021, 2:50 PM - 3:50 PM
Andraya Frith Darrell Jarvis Michael Melvin

As franchise systems emerge from the pandemic and get back to “new normal” business, franchisors will need to consider different legal, business and relationship issues and risks related to renewal, default and termination decisions.  System changes may have been put on hold since March 2020 as franchisors and franchisees focused on responding to the crisis, but franchisors may be eager to implement transformational change as the economy starts to recover and franchise systems and consumer expectations continue to evolve at an accelerated pace.  This concurrent session will provide you with insights into the unique contractual, good faith and fair dealing and relationship issues that will need to be taken into consideration when renewing, defaulting or terminating franchisees, as well as when rolling out system change, over the next 12 to 18 months.
