Speaker Bio
As this year’s Franchising Meets the Money Keynote speaker, Sean Bell has demonstrated how his extensive knowledge in business, and experience in the franchise industry led him to sell Fat Bastard Burrito to Mary Brown’s Chicken, under MBI Brands.

Bell graduated Wilfrid Laurier University in 1995 with a degree in Economics, Finance and Accounting. His work in the food and beverage industry begun when he worked as the acting manager in planning and analysis for Coors Canada. Bell would then continue his work with the food and beverage industry, working with top brands such as, Coca-Cola, Maple Leaf Foods, Cara Operations (now known as Recipe Unlimited) and Fresh Brands Inc. – in which he was Co-Owner and CFO.

In 2018, Bell became the CFO of Mary Brown’s Chicken, through which he learned about the brands operations and values. During his time with Mary Brown’s, Bell led the Finance, IT, Risk Management, People and Culture, Procurement and Culinary departments. Once Bell became the President of Fat Bastard Burrito in 2022, he recognized an opportunity for the brand to join the Mary Brown’s family under MBI Brands; stating that the inspiration behind the acquisition was the similarities between the two brands. Bell mentions that although the two brands similarities in Canadian identity and quality product are a driving force for this merge, the brands should not be worried about existing in the same space – as they appeal to different demographics altogether.

With more than two decades of franchise experience in the food and beverage industry, Sean Bell has proven his authority in the industry as a franchising expert.
